Dr. Jack Fyans

 

Leslie J. Fyans Jr. is a Licensed Psychologist who has been counseling individuals and families for over 36 years.  Jack specialized in working with school-aged children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. He works with individuals as well as couples, families, and groups. He has worked on inpatient psychiatric units and in outpatient counseling.

Dr. Fyans works with a wide variety of presenting problems from anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma, to adjustment difficulties, marital and divorce counseling, and coaching and wellness, enhancing performance, test anxiety including ACTERS/ADHD scale and positive psychology approaches.

Dr. Fyans enjoys public speaking, lecturing and researching. He has published works on Achievement Motivation and Leadership and Psychometrics as with Generalizability Theory and the linkage with test anxiety including national ACT, SAT and Graduate tests and the ACTERS ADHD scale. He continues to provide various training and consulting in-service programs, as well as numerous crisis intervention stress debriefings throughout central Illinois. 


​​He worked with the Illinois Department of Central Management Services on The Guide to Stress for Workers Compensation and the DVD and "Handbook Healthy Pastor Healthy Church" for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  

Since 1986 he has been a consultant to the Veteran Center of Central Illinois and Since 1990 to the Federal Disability Services. 


Dr. Fyans has a Bachelor’s degree in  Psychology and Philosophy from the Concordia University, Ann Arbor Michigan and a Master’s degree in Psychology from University of  Illinois , where he studied a variety of clinical and therapy approaches. He obtained his Doctoral degree from the University of Illinois. His post graduate fellowship work was at the Institute for Human Development at the University of Illinois and with Dr. Fred Ludwig of the Mental Health Center of Central Illinois.


From 1992 to present, Dr Fyans is a special guest on the KFUO Morning Show on Monday’s.  KFUO is an Inspirational Christian Radio broadcast worldwide and on Real Audio.  He has also been a frequent Editor to the Family Counselor section of the Lutheran Witness Magazine.
